About Me – A Time For Change

“Life is best enjoyed when time periods are divided between labor, sleep and recreation” – Brigham Young

If that’s true, I need to make some changes.

I’m a guy from New York City who lives in Playa del Carmen, on Mexico’s Mayan Riviera.  I operate a few businesses and am pretty confident I fit the definition of a workaholic.  Having an “ism,” I figure I need an intervention, this is mine.

When first arriving in Mexico I planned to see the country from within.  I knew it would be a shame to someday head back to New York without rummaging about the mountains of Chiapas, savoring mole in Peubla, or having sat lazily in an open-air market in Guadalajara; allowing my mind to dance to the songlike tones of the local dialect.

Somewhere along the way – while turning one business around, maintaining another and launching a third – I forgot.

I forgot how I enjoy dancing, throwing dinner parties, and entertaining friends.  I forgot about my passion to explore – the one that brought me to Mexico in the first place.  I forgot why I stayed single and didn’t have children.  For the last couple of years I’ve basically existed.  I grew a business and helped others grow, but feel like I’ve stagnated personally.

It’s time for Russell to break some habits . . . and get a life.  Here we are.
