On the neighborhood: Russell Granger has been placing tenants in East
Harlem for more than six years. We don’t rate our success by the number of
deals we make, but by the number of renewals we oversee. In our view, if a
tenant renews his or her lease, we know we've helped them find a home they
are happy to live in for an extended period of time. And that, ultimately,
is what we’re looking for.
After moving hundreds of tenants into East Harlem, it's a pleasure to say
that few of our clients have chosen not to renew for a second year, and
several have remained in the area for upwards of five years (the few people
who have vacated, left New York City entirely). Single men and women and
couples of all income brackets, all colors and creeds who are open minded
enough to investigate this rapidly-changing neighborhood usually decide that
it's exactly what they're looking for: a diverse, culturally-rich and
affordable neighborhood. Despite its big city roots (it is Manhattan you
know), East Harlem is one of the few neighborhoods in New York that can
still honestly boast the benefits of a classic New York neighborhood where
you can still get to know your neighbors, and the deli guy knows your
coffee order by heart.
