68 Street off Central Park
West
Prewar renovated studio with
separate kitchen
$1495
Rented
Building:
This
is one of those gorgeous prewar brownstones off of Central Park. It
used to be a single family home (mansion by my standards) that was
converted to apartments many moons ago. It still has the original
interior stairs and plenty of original details (carved wood etc). I always enjoy entering
buildings like this for the first time, as it's such a pleasant surprise to
see all of the detail and thought that went into its construction.
They just don't make them like this anymore.
Kitchen:
Windowed with a ceramic tile floor. Gas stove. Two nice big countertops make it ideal
for two to make dinner together. There is even an original sliding pocket door that separates the kitchen
from the living area.
Living /
sleeping: Open and airy with a
warm and buttery parquet wood floor. While I didn't measure, I'd say
the ceilings are probably 11 feet high. And there's a beautiful
decorative fireplace that's just longing to be dressed up. The
closet closes with an original sliding pocket door, so no valuable real
estate is lost because of a swinging door.
This is an ideal apartment for a young
single professional looking for the following:
Character, cleanliness, quiet, and one of
the BEST locations in the city.
And
since you made it this far - you won't believe who used to live in the
building! |
